Thai Nguyen Green Tea — Loose Leaf · USDA Organic · Protected Origin, Vietnam
Vietnam's most celebrated green tea — finally, done right.
Thai Nguyen Province in northern Vietnam has been producing green
tea for over 3,000 years. It is Vietnam's most protected
tea-growing region — the soil, altitude, and cool northern climate
create a flavor profile that cannot be replicated anywhere else on
earth. The Vietnamese government has granted Thai Nguyen tea
protected origin status, similar to how Champagne is protected
in France. If it does not come from Thai Nguyen, it is not
Thai Nguyen tea.
Ours comes from Thai Nguyen.
We work directly with a third-generation farming family in Tân
Cương commune — the most respected tea-growing village in the
province. Their family has been growing and hand-processing this
tea the same way since their grandfather's time. We visit annually,
verify every certification, and never change suppliers chasing
a lower price.
HOW IT TASTES
This is where Vietnamese green tea reveals its true character.
The first sip is bold and slightly bitter — then something
remarkable happens. That bitterness transforms into a deep,
lingering sweetness that coats the back of your throat and stays
for minutes after you swallow. Tea people call this hậu vị —
the aftertaste. Thai Nguyen green tea has the most celebrated
hậu vị of any Vietnamese tea. Once you taste it, you understand
immediately why this region has been protected by law.
HOW TO BREW
Use 1–1.5 teaspoons per 8oz water at 175°F (80°C). Steep 2–3
minutes for light, 4 minutes for full flavor. This tea handles
3–4 re-infusions beautifully — each one reveals a new layer of
character. Traditional Vietnamese style: brew strong,
drink small, savor the hậu vị.
CHOOSE YOUR SIZE
Our 8oz bag gives you 100+ cups to explore every dimension of
this tea — we recommend trying it across multiple brew strengths
to find your preference. The 16oz bulk bag is for the drinker
who has already found their preference and wants to make sure
they never run out.
